Making the Most of a Mega Deal etc etc...

It is Mega Deal time at Krogers again and that used to mean lots of freebies... but even without double/triple coupons you can do well.  THe trick is just this:  Have a coupon for each of the items unless you need 'fillers' to get to 10 items.  Last night I scored pasta--with the Mega deal the packs (12 oz) were only 38 cents each!  I am planning another Mega run after the paper comes out Sunday because several items have coupons coming Sunday!  Sunny D and Uncle Ben's rice.... both have coupons coming out and they are on the Mega list :-)
A note for those who use coupons from the free throw packs.... sometimes these packs do NOT have the same coupons--many will match but sometimes the freebies will leave out some of the coupons that are highly advertised on coupon sites.  Don't despair... if there is a great deal and you have time to get an extra paper that is great--but don't neglect the offer to recycle your neighbor's unused coupons!  This week I got an extra Reach $2 off twin pack coupon from my neighbor!  This makes it possible for me to do the Wags deal with RR.  Oops--lapsed into cpn lingo... Wags is Walgreens and RR are register rewards--money coupons you can use for future buys at Wags.
One more quick idea--use your search engine and look for sites in your area that already spend time matching deals.  use "COUPN MATCH UP your city, state" and find local people who shop at your stores who can guide you to savings.  You can also add the name of your regular store and get more specific although i would recommed you find people who give you more than the FREE only deals and cover more than one store.  If Krogers has something for free after coupon but at Walmart it is a money maker then i might want to stop in at Walmart!
HAPPY SHOPPING!

Saving without Doubles or Triples

If you are in a market where stores will double or triple then you are blessed!  For those who find themselves only receiving face value there are still ways to get the most value by doing some simple things.
!.  Make sure that you can find your coupons!  This means having a system to file or store your inserts of cut coupons where you can locate them when you need them.  What works best for you may not work best for me--so we all get to choose our best method and adjust it to our own personalities and needs.  Whether you uise a binder, folders, envelopes or plastic baggies just know how to find your coupons because if they are lost in your purse (I will admit to this!!) they will simply expire and do you no good at all!
2. Watch for the sales and match coupons for maximum value.  Take advantage of sites that match up coupons for stores you frequent.  Bookmark them and visit them often for updated material.   Some sites will even give you a week ahead so you have more time to plan to save!
3.  Be aware of the way your stores cycle through sales.  Some stores will run the same type of items on sale every 3 or 4 weeks.  By watching and keeping track you will know when to use up that coupon or if you will get a better deal next week.
4.   Take a few minutes to check out the clearance areas.  If you use a binder it is really handy to have on hand in case you find something you have a coupon for marked down to almost free!  I have scored many items completely free by haing the right coupon at the right time.  When products are resized or shelves are reformatted you may find some pretty awesome deals.

When is a FREEBIE less than free??

Have you ever seen a great deal--where it is FREE  or maybe even a money maker and thought--this is too good to be true?  Hmmmm make sure you take into consideration that you have time and travel.... is a 30 minute ride into an out of the way place really a deal?  With the cost of gas these days try to take advantage of where to do have to travel--stop in at your regular store name but in a different part of town. Some stores will run out of certain items but not others and sometimes taking a few minutes to grab your coupon notebook and swing in for a quick look can net you some great finds.  Took me 8 store stops before I netted my free Nivea body wash!  Worth it because I was driving right by the store... took 5 minutes to park and run in.... got the body wash and another item my close store had been out of and walked out paying 6 cents!

A little about me....

Picture
I am a mother of 4 children and have couponed for a long time here and there.  As my family has grown it became more important to find good deals and stretch the budget even further.  Teens are hard to accomodate and we have 3 of them!  By using coupons and match ups I can buy special items for the kids without breaking the budget.  It is hard to plan ahead for some things but toothbrushes, toothpaste, body wash can be bought on sale and saved for several months :-)  I find myself sharing tips and coupons and thought  a blog could be another way to share what I have learned and benefit others.  The Bible directs us to  encourage one another and to build up one another....and I hope to pass on information that will aid in your life and to also make it possible to give from your deals to help others,  None of the tips I share are unique in themselves but I will attempt to only share those that are honest and reputable.  We can enjoy and benefit from coupons without abusing the system.  And just for the record folks, I am in the picture above, I just won't say which one!.
